Don Smith has been a Mortgage Banker since 1986 and has been associated with Sunrise Mortgage & Investment Co. since 1998. He is a Senior Vice President with Sunrise Mortgage originating and servicing commercial real estate loans primarily from $1,000,000 to $10,000,000, with a few loans above and below that range. Recently his smallest loan was $400,000 and largest transaction was $32,000,000. Sunrise Mortgage is a privately held commercial mortgage banking firm with five offices servicing Southern California, Arizona and New Mexico. Sunrise services a loan portfolio in excess of $1.5 billion for their correspondent insurance companies, pension funds and conduits. Beyond their correspondent base of lenders Sunrise Mortgage brokers loans to a wide variety of capital sources such as CMBS (conduit) lenders, pension funds, banks, thrifts and credit unions.
Don Smith has financed a wide varied of income property types including office, industrial, retail, hospitality, healthcare and other special purpose properties. Specializing in long term fixed rate debt, Don Smith and Sunrise Mortgage structures loan terms of 5 years to 25 years with various amortizations. Sunrise also structures construction, floating rate, bridge, forward commitment, and joint venture/equity loans. He is very active in all aspects of the loan process, from initial analysis for acquisition for his client borrowers and lenders, loan underwriting and presentation, due diligence and closing. For loans originated and serviced by Sunrise Mortgage he remains the first point of contact for loan events encountered by his clients.
Don Smith is a graduated of Long Beach State University with a degree in Finance and Economics. He is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association and participates in a number of industry related organizations.
