Brett L. Davis serves as the Senior Vice President and Chief Trust Officer on the Executive Leadership Team for The Exeter Group of Companies, including The Exeter Group, LLC and Exeter 1031 Exchange Services, LLC headquartered in San Diego, California, Exeter Trust Company and Exeter Asset Services Corporation headquartered in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and their affiliate companies.  Mr. Davis is based in Exeter Trust Company’s headquarters office located in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Senior Financial Services Executive

As a Senior Vice President, Brett oversees the Trust Operations Group and the Retirement and Custody Services Group, which includes the administration of self-directed individual retirement accounts, individual 401(k) plans (often referred to as solo-k’s), private fund custody and administrative services, directed administrative trustee services, qualified retirement account custody services and cash management custody services. He ensures operational execution of Exeter Trust Company’s mission to provide clients a means by which to execute 1031 exchange strategies, and the ability to buy and hold alternative investments.

A Trust Operations Leader with Fortune 500 Experience

Brett has served three Fortune 500 companies and has focused his entire career on operational endeavors in the financial services space. He began his professional life with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith in 1991. He then joined the Financial Services Division of Fiserv, Inc. in 1993. He joined Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. in 2011 as their Operations Director for the Alternative Investment Operations Division. He joined Pacific Premier Trust in 2021 as Senior Vice President and Director of Securities Operations. In each of his roles, Brett’s responsibilities have always involved oversight of non-traditional investments, often referred to as alternative investments, at various levels of focus.

Brett has led and advised numerous operating committees including serving as chairman of a risk committee and a clearing compliance committee.  Brett was also on the initial Alternative Investment Brokerage Committee at the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation which explored and mapped the future of alternative investment pricing for DTCC’s Alternative Investment Product (AIP) service.

Brett holds a Master of Science degree from Robert Morris University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colorado State University.

Professional Associations and Interests

Brett is intently focused on the way investors think and react to investment choices.  His interests include decision-making strategies suited for listed securities and non-traditional investments or alternative investments, and the development of behaviors and availability of tools that help investors and institutions understand alternative investments.

Brett is a member of the Retirement Industry Trust Association (RITA) for trust companies that specialize in non-traditional assets or alternative investments inside self-directed IRAs and individual 401(k) plans, Institute of Portfolio Alternatives (IPA), Alternative and Direct Investment Securities Association (ADISA, formerly known as REISA) and the Federation of Exchange Accommodators (FEA).
